Slants are set directly into the cement.

When considering a slant, you have two options. You can get one with a base or you can get one without a base. Slants without a base cost less because you aren’t paying for the extra granite base, and a 3ft slant typically can fit on a single plot/lot if you are both considering being buried in a single plot/lot. However, without a base you take away most vases options.
Most people want a base when considering vases, because it raises the vase out of the way of the lawnmower and trucks that go up and down the rows so that they don’t get damaged. There are other ways to get a vase with a slant that doesn’t have a base.
One option is to get a 1/2 Exposed Vase. This vase has a cup that is set in the cement that can turn over when not in use(See vase options in design step).
You can also get plinths. This is a 4in x 4in or 6in x 6in square piece of granite that is set in the cement that gets creates a platform for a regular vase to sit on.
Compared to a flat stone, the slant gives you the ability to add letting to the back. Compared to a monument or a bench, you actually loose 4in to 6in in height.
